A huge big thank you to the person who bought paid time for [community profile] thisfinecrew ! I'm a little verklempt, honsetly. That this community means enough to go to that little bit of extra time and money to support in turn means a lot.

Thank you.

It's a hard time right now. Personally, I'm struggling with this shutdown. I've had to stop reading the news so I can sleep. But this little community helps. Seeing how folks stepped up to support the midterms, support groups targeted by the regime, support each other, share news both of what's going on and of small victories has been incredible. You are incredible. Both those who post and who lurk and everything in between. You care and you're here and we are not alone in this fight, whether it's with big contributions or small. All of them matter. Thank you for being here with us.

“It may be that the night will close over us in the end, but I believe that morning will come again. Morning always grows out of the darkness, though maybe not for the people who saw the sun go down. We are the Lantern Bearers, my friend; for us to keep something burning, to carry what light we can forward into the darkness and the wind.”

Apologies. I was AFK for longer than I anticipated yesterday so the check in post didn't happen. I'll get it up tonight.

For this week's check-in I wanted to ask everyone if they're getting what they want out of this community, how we can do better, what types of posts are good for motivating or for information. Community members are welcome to post, and I don't want to limit that, but I feel like it's mid-December and now that the initial shock as worn away, we're going to be settling into the long-term. I know I've been struggling a little with how to fit this comm and activism into my usual routine. My goal is sustainability without burning myself and others out and/or falling into information overload that's too overwhelming.

So since most folks like tickys, a poll
