Agreed about Rep. Adam Schiff.

And comparing the people now speaking out via protests and marching to the Tea Party? No, just no. It is not the same.

The thread from Alexandra Erin is terrific and really spot on.

Speaking of marches, see https://www.womensmarch.com/100/Action2

The march organizers have a "10 actions in 100 days campaign" and now are calling for community "huddles" to plan next steps; the link has a map of already-scheduled Huddles and a facility for agreeing to host a Huddle. "You don't need to have ever done something like this before. We have a guide available and lots of resources to help you come up with an action plan."

PS--in the tradition of devising new epithets for You Know Who, I am reminded of BtVS' Fear Demon Gachnar. All was well when Giles determined that he had failed to translate the caption of the woodcut of the fearsome demon: "Actual Size." To paraphrase Cordelia in AtS S1, "Throw in a comb-over and tiny hands and I dated we elected this guy a lot. Or, not a lot actually."

I kinda agree that we aren't leaving our reps with a lot of room to negotiate with Republicans. But we don't want them to negotiate for the most part, so that's fair. I'm not surprised that they're pushing back -- they're accustomed to having the power in this relationship.

If they want to negotiate, they're going to have to convince us that we're getting something worthwhile for the trade. The idea that the voters should just sit back and "trust them" is frankly absurd in an era where trust is this broken and open communication is the exception, not the norm.
