This post is for talking about anything and everything to do with election day and the results.

Tell us about your voting experience if you're voting today,

Tell us if you're doing something today to get out the vote or safeguard voting rights, if you're working for a campaign, or if you're making sure the elections run smoothly. (A big thank you to all of you who are poll workers.)

Tell us about how you'll be following the results, about the races you're excited about and any news about results you want to share (whether you're looking for the community to celebrate or commiserate).

If it proves necessary, tell us about any urgent actions we need to take (or make a brand new post about them!)

And let's keep each other company while we wait for the results and see how things will shake out for the next two years,

I and my partner went out & voted! He is disabled and on a cane so we were a bit worried about voting. There was quite a long line but once a poll worker came down the line we were able to ask & were taken to the front of the line. Yay for accessibility!

Thank you for this post, and for keeping this comm going. I haven't been around much due to offline life going haywire, but I have been watching the comm, and I appreciate having a place to check in later.

I voted by mail several weeks ago but then received something asking for my ID#, which I'd already provided. I filled that out and returned it. As of yesterday, my ballot was still "pending," so this morning I went to my polling place and filled out a provisional ballot.

I still don't know what the problem is with my initial ballot. I updated everything when I moved in 2020, and have voted by mail in the interim. It's annoying. I do feel a little better having done the provisional ballot.

I just came back from voting. I'm quite proud of myself actually, because since COVID I've pretty much turned into a hermit and this is the first time I've left the house this year, but it was vitally important, so I made myself do it.

I'm ordering a delivery from my local Japanese restaurant as a reward 🥳

I work doing direct care for 2 family members. I made sure each of them got to the polls and spent time ahead of that sharing info about candidates so they could make educated choices. And I voted, too.

I'm looking at results coming in on the state board of elections site, and the most depressing thing to me is the "ballots cast" column. Rough estimate, half of the "eligible" voters have actually voted, and yes that's only looking at the "completely reported" counties in the state. Granted, that's working on the assumption that the "out of X" has a fairly accurate X, but I can't imagine it being that far off. So I'm a bit down about that. Hoping it doesn't prove to be our downfall.

I voted two weeks ago, because in Washington all voting is vote-by-mail. You get your ballot in the mail, and you can either mail it back or drop it in an election box (which is what I did). But the thing that is so nail-biting about it, is that ballots are valid as long as they are postmarked today, and who knows how many ballots were dropped in the mail today and won't arrive at the election office for a week? So if there's a really clear lead and a candidate is leading by more than there are outstanding possible votes yet to come in, you can call a race early. A close race ... we might not know for another week.

And the race I care most about (Representative from District 3), is currently very close. It's 52.6% for the Democrat, with 65% of the ballots that are already in the election office counted. And the Republican candidate is an ardent Trumper. He defeated the incumbent (a Republican from the less-crazy wing of the party) in the primaries, and was favored to win because this is a conservative-leaning area. I'm happy that it's close in the Democrat's favor! but we might not know who wins for a week.

I voted by mail again this year, and was assisted by my mother. I don't know who won Illinois yet, but what I can say is that the person who ran against the incumbent has said some very nasty and untrue things about the incumbent. For instance, the incumbent happens to be Jewish and for whatever stupid reason that was and still might be a problem for the other guy. It's all totally messed up imho, but I guess it is what it is. Can ya tell I still don't particularly care for politics? The only difference is that within recent years I've paid a bit more attention to it. But anyway...I'm going to try and find out whether or not the incumbent won a second term. I for one hope he did, because he has been a good governor. Those who know a thing or 3 about Illinois politics are certainly aware of how dirty it gets. Lol think "Windy City".

Update: Just found out from Siri that democrat JB Pritzker won a second term as Governor. This is good news for those of us who voted for him, myself included.
