8:30 - 10 p.m. EST // 7:30 - 9 p.m. CST // 6:30 - 8 p.m. MST // 5:30 - 7 p.m. PST
Join us on January 18th from 8:30 to 10 pm ET to learn about successful efforts to establish Sanctuary policies in cities and schools. Learn from folks who have run successful campaigns to make more welcoming spaces in schools, both for immigrants targeted by ICE and those targeted by other law enforcement, and in cities.
Hear from Jasmine Lopez, an 11-year-old who was instrumental in passing a school sanctuary policy in Miami and her mom, Laura Coache-Lopez. Jasmine is a young leader of AFSC Miami and wrote this powerful piece in Teen Vogue. Hear from Li Adorno from Cosecha about organizing on college campuses to create Sanctuary in that context. Hear about Mijente's report on Sanctuary cities and how to make your city more welcoming for immigrants and others targeted by law enforcement. Take away concrete steps to make change in your school or city. Presenters include Lis-Marie Alvarado, Lori Khamala, and Lucy Duncan.
