We've avoided a shutdown — for now. Meanwhile, the infrastructure and social and environmental bills are bogged down and the Republicans are being obstructionist over the debt limit. This is your regular reminder of the importance of working from the grassroots up to get more Democrats elected at every level, so small groups can't hold up vital or ambitious legislation.

I wrote my rep to thank her for her consistent good work. I figure that considering how many people must be writing her to disagree with her positions (not least on abortion access) that hearing from someone who agrees with and approves of what she's doing might help. What do you all think?
