The shutdown continues. Please keep contacting your representatives. If they're Democrats, thank them for standing firm against the blackmail from the White House. If they're Republicans, urge them to join colleagues like Thom Tills, Cory Gardner and Susan Collins (all up for re-election in 2020) who seem willing to find a way to end the shutdown.

Among the many other ongoing issues, there are teachers' strikes in LA and other places (some unofficially) and we have actions to support those workers. (Thanks toastykitten!) And fannishly, fandomtrumpshate creator sign ups are open until 1 Feb.

But there has been some good news coming from a new (state) legislature! redbird let is know that the NY Legislature has passed electoral law reforms.

I took a nice walk with some friends!

I called both my senators. I also donated to a food bank, prompted by the government shutdown, but am not sure that counts as "a cause" except in the sense that feeding people is basic human decency and it's wrong for people to go hungry when enough food exists.
