Check In 14 July, Trump assassination attempt, defeating Project 2025

I did not expect (living in the UK) to wake up this morning to news of an assassination attempt on Trump.

It's too early to know what the political ramifications are going to be, but what we can do is continue on with the suggestions made in the excellent post by petra: Things to do other than vote.

Another source of ideas for action (there's some overlap with petra's post, but a few other points) is the Defeat Project 2025 site.

If you want to discuss what happened at the Trump rally (and the response to it) here, I'm happy to host that conversation, but I may freeze the discussion if it gets too fractious.

I heard about the shooting when my father replied to a family text chat earlier today, and a neighbor happened to be here in my apartment at the time. So he and I discussed the shooting a bit. I personally find it rather ironic, given what happened on January 6 of 2021 and who was responsible. Besides that, I just subscribed to a newsletter from http://www.vox.com , which supposedly explains the goings-on at the US Supreme Court in language other than legalese. I haven't had a whole lot of time to delve into the Vox newsletter, but it looks pretty good. BTW, I just asked my Amazon device about the assassination attempt on Trump and got a chime. So their news feeds must be outdated, as the most recent bit of Trump news is from 2021.
