This is the last check-in post before election day!

What are your plans for Tuesday? Have you already voted (in person or by mail) or are you planning to vote on the day? Will you be working on GOTV efforts or at the polls or on a campaign? Will you be following the results avidly or having an early night?

Please let us know of any last minute actions people can take and feel free to talk about races or ballot initiatives/ propositions you're particularly interested in.

If you didn't see it, or need a reminder, take a look at last month's check in post, which linked to four posts made by [personal profile] sathari with lots of great links for this election cycle.

And I want to highlight 866-OUR-VOTE, which offers on-the-day support to people having trouble voting, as well as lots of resources and links — in multiple languages.

I'll put up a post on Tuesday for people to talk about the events of the day and the results. Meanwhile, here's this week's poll.

I voted early: I got a postal/absentee ballot, filled it out, and put it in a dropbox in front of the main library. I asked for absentee ballots for this year's primary and general elections, and needed it because of travel for the primary.

I donated to my Congressmember's election campaign; I think she's sharing campaign money with the rest of the Squad, and even if Ayanna is a shoo-in, which she might be in this district, Ilhan Omar isn't.

I also wrote a few get-out-the-vote cards via Postcards to Voters, and realized that the amount of writing by hand that required might be hurting my hand, and stopped, reluctantly, but at least a few people got a few cards saying "hey, vote for these candidates in Georgia and help defend democracy, election day is Nov. 8."

Up here in Canada, we just got all of our civil rights taken away, so it's been two days of protests, emails, bringing food to protests, and generally being just stressed and scared. The hardest work is being done by our frontline union workers who were the target of what is an attack on all of us, but I'm trying to be part of the infrastructure that supports them.

Also, I don't know if this is what [personal profile] sabotabby is warning about and don't want to ask them to waste cognitive load doing Canada 101 for Americans, but the timing is right: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/huge-fines-loom-for-striking-canada-education-workers/ar-AA13K83f

I'm voting first thing on Tuesday! Since my county outside of my little blue dot is so red, I decided I felt most comfortable voting in person this year. I have been having major issues with executive function this fall, so I have not done the amount of GOTV that I usually do, but I have made a point to talk to my (college-aged) students about how important election is for both their personal and professional lives.

I voted early - a week ago exactly. I'm not clerking this year due to caretaking, but I plan to go visit the polling stations I have worked at as well as the one where I vote, and do a half-hour observation at each.
