I'd like to start by saying I hope everyone in the path of the various hurricanes and other bad weather is safe and well.

Here in the comm, we've had a series of great posts on the upcoming elections since the last check in. A big thank you to [personal profile] sathari for finding and sharing all these useful resources!

How To Register To Vote (US)

As usual, a reminder to not be shy of making your own posts about any issues and actions you think the comm should know about, or dropping some information into a comment to our sticky post if you'd like the mods to do it.

If you're looking for information on anything else, you can use our tags to check for any ongoing actions or resources relevant to the issues you care about. (And a quick shout out to [personal profile] redbird for all the tagging work that keeps the comm running smoothly.)

Finally, here's our poll (behind the cut) for you to tell us what you've been doing in the last few weeks. And do let us know in comments what you plan to do next.

Due to Life Stuff, I had to bow out of election clerking this year. If you can be awake and alert from 5AM to 11PM and polite to people you disagree with, and spend the three months before and after the election never saying anything political on Facebook or Twitter or LinkedIn, *please* look into being a poll worker.

I'm so glad these are helpful! I felt really bad that I didn't have it in me to do the "how to vote in all 50 states" thing like I've done for elections past. But, lo and behold, we have a US government that cares about helping citizens exercise their rights, and they did it for me! I think some of us have talked in the comments here about how nice it is to have a government that actually bothers to do even "little" things in a way that makes things easier and better for its citizens.

It looks like my state of Illinois is moving towards a fully accessible online? ballot system. This will be great for all involved parties. I am a screen reader user, and awhile back on an email list I heard a walkthrough of one of these.
