Another week has gone past -- I hope everyone who celebrated US Thanksgiving had a good time, or at least made it through OK!
Things were a little quieter this week, but we wanted to have another check-in post for folks. How are you all doing? Have you had a chance to get involved, or are you readying yourselves to get back into action next week?
Three easy things you can do from your computer that take 2 minutes
1. Share on your social media networks that Jill Stein’s campaign is looking for volunteers to help with the recounts in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan -- it’s especially important to get the news out that the campaign needs to find enough voters in each election district in Pennsylvania to sign affidavits requesting a recount. The link to the PA-specific page is: http://www.jill2016.com/recountpa
2. Add one of the many recommendations for people worth reading made here to your social media networks, to help you more quickly and easily stay on top of current events and actions. Or pick a specific issue of importance to you and find a good source of news about that issue, such as an NPO -- try our donate tag for lots of links to NPO websites.
3. Check your documents (e.g. passport, driver’s license, state/city-issued ID) and make a list of any that need renewing. Put a note in your calendar to remind you to deal with anything that isn’t due yet but will need renewing in the next year, giving yourself enough time before it runs out to get it done. For bonus credit, make a step-by-step list of the actions you need to take to renew it -- for example, here’s a post covering all the things you need to think about for a passport
Two easy things that you can do from your computer that require money
1. Donate to an organization that’s gonna need the money in the new administration You can set up monthly donations if you have the funds.
2.Donate to Jill Stein’s recount campaign - they stil need to raise money for the Michigan recount.
One challenge-but-you-can-do-it thing you can do with your phone
1. Call your representatives and express your opinion on
a. the Presidential Accountability Act introduced by Congresswoman Katherine Clark
b. the No Religious Registry Act introduced by Congresswoman Suzan DelBene.
c. the Sanctuary Movement
Let us know how it’s going! We’ll make badges! Even if you haven’t done anything yet, we want to hear from you. We’re also happy to take feedback on the comm to make it smoother. We’re figuring things out as we go.
