Pharmaceutical company Vertex has developed a drug that provides effective treatment for many people with cystic fibrosis, reducing their symptoms, reducing the likelihood of other infections and in general improving their quality of life and life expectancy.

But in many countries (including a "rich" country like the UK, where it probably won't be available through the National Health Service because it really is that expensive), this drug is unaffordable.
