I hope everyone is having a good Labor Day weekend. Efforts for the next set of elections will now kick into high gear, so please do post about any specific races you're following, campaigns and initiatives people may want to donate to (if they have the funds) and any actions people can take, especially if they can be done remotely (text and phonebanking or sending postcards, for example).

Of course, you can still post about absolutely anything else you think our members would find useful! Please don't be shy of making a post yourself — but you can also drop some information into a comment to our sticky post if you'd like the mods to do it.

We've had one post in the comm since the last check in.

Student! Loan! Forgiveness!

If you're looking for information on anything else, you can use our tags to check for any ongoing actions or resources relevant to the issues you care about. (And a quick shout out to [personal profile] redbird for all the tagging work that keeps the comm running smoothly.)

Finally, here's our poll (behind the cut) for you to tell us what you've been doing in the last few weeks. And do let us know in comments what you plan to do next.

Highlight for last week was training over Zoom in the art of getting out the vote in anticipation of the municipal elections across Ontario here in Canada. City and town halls across my province affected by this.

I worked on this week's Americans of Conscience Checklist. I like these because there are options for a range of people (don't have much time, not comfortable with phoning, etc.), but there's always some way that you can help.

And Crooked Media is back to helping train people for activism with their Vote Save America: Midterm Madness Slack Community. They have an interesting-looking Distributed Social Media Organizing training call this coming Wednesday, for instance. The community itself seems very lively.

Thanks for the Americans of Conscience Checklist link! That's very helpful for me.

I've started researching candidates for my local elections. I've also started researching candidates in my mother's area in the hopes of flipping her vote on some of them. Also did phone banking and signed up for more phone banking in the coming weeks! Finally, I took care of myself by signing off of a phone bank event a bit early one night when I was not feeling well and wasn't really able to bring my A game (or even B game, lol) to the conversations anymore.

I just completed the first of what I hope will be several free courses from Open University, and I started another one just this weekend. I'm hoping to take some politics courses, because to be honest I've been rather busy the past several years and haven't given everything the attention which it probably deserves. But I aim to please.
