Welcome to 2022! This will be a big year for elections, so if you have time and energy to get involved, whether working for a particular party or candidate or on general Get Out The Vote efforts, take a look at our roundup of election resources. Do let us know of anything else you think should be added to the list (or anything that needs to be removed).

There will also be plenty of other issues that will need action, so this is a reminder to not be shy of making your own posts about any issues and actions you think the comm should know about, or dropping some information into a comment to our sticky post if you'd like the mods to do it. And you can always use our tags to check for any ongoing actions or resources relevant to the issues you care about.

We've only had one new post since the last check in, about the next round of the Fandom Trumps Hate fan auction.

Finally, here's our poll (behind the cut) for you to tell us what you've been doing in the last few weeks. And do let us know in comments what you plan to do next.

I don't know if many people are still reading here. COVID has a lot of us focused on our own personal and health concerns and it's 'just' the midterms...

I listened to the podcast 'Majority 54' this week (released 13th January), and one of the things that the hosts (Jason Kander and Ravi Gupta) and their guest talked about was how state elections this year could have big implications for how future presidential elections go.

It's an episode worth listening to, as much because the guest gave examples of what elections are risky in his state and explained why, and they are not positions that most people would give a second thought to, but they relate to gerrymandering and possibly overturning electoral college votes and a great many other anti-democracy actions.

I've found Majority 54 really useful and informative about how political activism can work at the local level, even from outside the US electoral system, and this year they're nudging people to move into some kind of political involvement, whether it's talking to one person or manning a phone bank or whatever.
