It's been quiet in the comm for the past couple of weeks, so no new posts to link. But in light of the shootings in El Paso, TX yesterday, overnight in Dayton, OH and a week ago in Gilroy, CA, I thought I'd focus on actions around gun control and link a tweet from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:
If you’re just as sick of gun violence as an American reality, it’s time to get organizing.

There are more good resources in the comments but, of course, also quite a few assholes and trolls, so you may not want to read any further. If I have time, I'll come back later and list some of them in a comment here. Or if someone else wants to do that, feel free -- and, of course, please make your own suggestions.

Please also tell us in the comments what you've been doing! It's great to hear about all the amazing things our members are doing and a chance for you to inspire others to get involved. And I've kept the list of actions relating to immigrants and refugees, as it's not as if that crisis is over….

I checked "sent a postcard/email/letter/fax." I just moved, and sent an email to one of my state representatives last week, and the other this week, mostly so I'd have their email addresses handy for when there's something I actually want to call about. In both cases, I picked something where I could just say "as a constituent, I support you on what you're doing."

I figure, sooner or later, there's going to be something I'm interested in that my new reps aren't already working on--or where I want them to change their minds--at which point having that info handy will be useful.
