Most recent update from GoFundMe: Honor Dr. Blasey as an Educator

Today, I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Blasey, for the first time. She reached out to express appreciation for funds raised for her security costs in a separate GFM that I sponsored. This gave me the chance to ask if she is comfortable having her name used on the academic endowment to honor her as an educator. She not only gave preliminary approval, she expressed delight and enthusiasm about how this endowment can “pay it forward” (her phrase), providing resources for young researchers working to understand trauma.

Meanwhile, the institution with which I am working to create the formal endowment has given approval in concept. They are now proceeding with their internal processes to make sure the gift can be accepted and used consistent with donor intent. Bottom line: we are very likely to have a formal structure to announce by year end, and I hope well before.

This campaign to honor Dr. Blasey as an educator will remain open at least until the endowment arrangements are finalized. I will let you know when that happens.

C&P from Indivisible:

Indivisibles,

Even though the election ended Tuesday, votes in key races across the country are still being counted. And the races for Florida Senate, Florida Governor, and Georgia Governor aren’t over yet.

Trump and his administration are working double-time to silence crucial votes, and we can’t let that happen now, or ever. We need to be sure that all ballots that were cast, including all vote-by-mail and provisional ballots, are counted. And volunteers are needed ASAP in these efforts.
Here’s how you can help.

It only takes a few minutes to sign up to make a difference in these crucial elections. No matter where you live, you can sign up to volunteer for Georgia ballot counts. Here’s the info:

What: Make calls to voters in Georgia to make sure their vote is counted!
Where: Wherever you are! You just need a computer and a phone to start making calls
When: TODAY! Monday, November 12 until 9:00pm ET
RSVP: Sign up here to make calls here and find detailed instructions here if you don’t have a login for OpenVPB (we promise, it’s easy!)

If you live in or near Florida, your support is needed there as well! Don’t live nearby? Forward this email to someone you know in Florida or a surrounding state, or share on Facebook or Twitter:

What: Volunteer for the Florida recount efforts (organizing, operations, data, and other skills needed!)
Where: Across the state of Florida
When: Wednesday, November 14 through Sunday, November 19, multiple shifts per day
RSVP: Sign up to volunteer with the Nelson for Senate campaign here

We need all hands on deck to make sure every vote is counted in these crucial races. So if you can, please sign up to volunteer. And forward this email to friends and family who may be able to volunteer in the coming days!

Together, we’ll make sure #EveryVoteCounts!

In solidarity,
The Indivisible Team

See my post for details. If you live in Southern CA and have some free time today, tomorrow, or Wednesday, this is an excellent volunteer opportunity.

As seems to be the case on three-day weekends for me, the check-in post is a day late. Apologies for that. It's been a rollercoaster of a week with the Democrats taking the House and a lot of down-ballot races and the firing of Attorney General Sessions imperiling the Mueller investigation. It's a good reminder that we still have two more years under this regime and we're still going to have to fight every step of the way.

Thank you to everyone who voted in the election. Thank you to everyone who contributed in big ways and small to campaigns across the country. Thank you to all our overseas friends who've supported us throughout with information and encouragement. Never give up, never surrender.

Vote Forward is swinging back into action for the Mississippi Senate runoff. The mailing date for the letters is Wednesday, November 21, so there's still plenty of time to volunteer to send letters to unlikely Democratic voters encouraging them to vote. Currently only 44% of the target voters have been adopted, so there's plenty of voters left to go around!

From my previous post:

You sign up to write letters to unlikely voters sharing your perspective on why voting is important and get reminded to send the letters the week before the election, so there's still plenty of time to sign up. I've mostly been choosing districts in states with competitive Senate or gubernatorial elections, but there are plenty of voters left to write letters to in many different districts. Their data indicates voters who get letters are roughly 3.9% more likely to vote, and every vote counts!

(Note: once you've verified your email address, the confirmation email may go to your spam folder, so check back on the site within 24 hours. The writing burden is relatively light, as the bulk of the letter is a pre-printed form, but you do need to print the letters and provide your own envelopes and stamps. That said, there are some funds for stamps available if the cost of stamps is a potential dealbreaker! Send them an email and they may be able to help.)

Like Vote Forward, Postcards to Voters is writing to Mississippi voters about the run-off Senate election there.

Postcards to voters needs better handwriting/the ability to write clearly in a small space, if that's an issue for you.
