Here is a sample script of what to say:
Hello, my name is ________ and I am calling from ________. I am calling to urge Representative ________ to publicly oppose Donald Trump’s plan to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement. We need a new NAFTA but not one negotiated by Trump that will be worse for people and the planet than the old one.
I am counting on Rep _______ to represent us in Congress and to stop Trump’s plan to hamstring effective regulation of cancer- causing chemicals and to preclude the adoption of similar legislation by Congress.
Trump’s new NAFTA also threatens to stop future action to save bees that are dying at alarming rates. Scientists have found that neonicotinoid pesticides, manufactured by Bayer and Syngenta, are a leading driver in global bee declines and putting our food system and agricultural economy at risk.
I therefore urge Representative _______ to speak out against Trump’s plan to renegotiate NAFTA. We need a new NAFTA when we get a new and completely different President.
