I was working at the polls yesterday. We had two young disabled people with parents helping them, many immigrants, a lot of college-aged people, and a goodly percentage of not-white people. We had a lot of old-timers - one woman apologized that her 101-year-old relative was no longer able to vote due to mental acuity. Some people noted that they'd gone to high school with one of the Democratic candidates. We had 919 voters, which was about a 50% turnout.
I kept having to remind people that I only needed ID if they weren't on my list or if I was having trouble understanding them.
We had four people who needed to be reminded to cover up or tuck away their campaign gear (one Warren sweatshirt, one Bernie button, two MAGA hats - the second of those needed encouragement from our police officer, who told him I'd done the same for Democratic candidates).
There were a lot of kids, and one of our inspectors gave them I Voted stickers with the glee of a good Santa Claus stand-in.
Now I'm writing to remind everyone that there is another primary in Massachusetts on September 1, for statewide offices and Congressional seats. The deadline to register or change your party affiliation is August 12. Among other offices, the US Senate seat is contested in the Democratic primary. There are not (yet?) early voting dates. See sec.state.ma.us for more information.
