On the suggestion/request of Common Cause, I wrote to my Massachusetts state legislators asking them to support a total of four bills to strengthen election audits. I deleted the Common Cause email (which wanted me to use their website to write the same letter to both my representatives), but I saved the email to William Brownsberger, which has the bill numbers: S. 388, H. 694, H. 687, and H 721.
I try, when I get something like this, to check and see what if any position my representatives have taken; my other rep, Dave Rogers, is co-sponsoring the three House bills, so he got a shorter email thanking him for having done that. I think that, in general, emails will get more attention than petitions, but an email that's at least a bit different from however many others the person gets is probably more effective than one that could be seen as "oh, another person who entered her name and address on the Common Cause website."
