Check In 19 July

The last few days have seen us lose two titans of the Civil Rights Movement: Rep. John Lewis and Rev. C.T. Vivian.
It's been suggested that a great way to honor both men, but especially Lewis, would be to contact your senators to press for Senate to pass H.R.4 - Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2019, the bill to restore provisions of the 1965 Voting Rights Act that were stripped by a 2013 Supreme Court decision, as well as prevent other practices that discourage voting by minorities. Lewis was at the heart of guiding the bill through its successful passage of the House. (No surprise that Mitch McConnell has been sitting on it in the Senate.) As always, resistbot is on it.
We've had a few posts in the comm since the last check-in. The need for immediate action has passed in some cases, but I'm listing them all as they're all ongoing issues.
Action: Defend Kumeyaay Land, Obstruct Border Fences
Massachusetts Voting By Mail
Actions: Defend M-1 And F-1 Intl. Students
Action: Police Reform
Let us know what you've been up to in the last week or are planning to get involved in next week. Above all, take care of yourselves and stay safe.
