I'm posting this late, but please get your public comment in by TUESDAY August 7th, 11:59pm EDT on the citizenship census question. Here's some info from the League of Women Voters, with a link if you want to use their text.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has directed the department to include a citizenship question on the U.S. Census. Including this question on the Census will discourage participation and impact the data collected in every community across the country. This decision is bad for the Census, bad for our communities, and bad for America.

Now is the time for you to act! Submit a comment about the U.S. Census questions today!

The Census occurs once every ten years to count all of the people living in our country. It helps to determine fair political representation and aid policymakers when making decisions about where and how to allocate vital program funds and resources over the next decade. It is imperative to get the most accurate count because every community relies on Census data for things like public safety and transportation resources. A fair and accurate count lets our leaders and businesses make sound investment decisions that keep our communities thriving.

Take action and tell the U.S. Department of Commerce that we need a fair and accurate Census.

Right NOW, the public has the ability to impact the debate through public comments to the Department of Commerce. We must communicate to Secretary Ross that the American public wants an accurate and fair Census. Including a citizenship question on the Census undermines the participation of eligible persons and threatens the overall Census process that is vital to our democracy. We must do everything in our power to correct this issue before it’s too late.

The ACLU is running an initiative to send postcards to registered voters who didn't vote in the last midterm elections, telling them why you're voting and encouraging them to do the same. They send you the blanks, you write in a message about why you're voting, then send the postcards back to the ACLU office with the return label they provide, and they'll send them out to registered voters who didn't come out in 2014. (This is an almost perfect form of "activism while introverted," even if I personally hate handwriting things.)
