"We Stand United New York Rally", Jan. 19, 6-8 pm at the Trump International Hotel and Tower, 1 Central Park West.

The press release/signup says "Join NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, Reverend Al Sharpton, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Moore, Shailene Woodley, Rosie Perez, Alec Baldwin, advocacy groups and thousands of New Yorkers at the rally," which is described as "family friendly", which I interpret to mean "not a riot"--which is probably true considering that THE MAYOR is involved.

The release says the rally "will mark the beginning of renewed efforts by New York City and other cities across our country to become havens for all people and to make real progress on important issues such as pushing back on Obamacare repeal, climate change, criminal justice, and immigrant rights."

What amazes me is that major political figures are already publicly opposing Trump; I thought it would take years of nagging them to get them to do it. I listened to the NARAL phone Town Hall last night, and the speakers included two Representatives and a Senator.

UPDATED on 2 February 2017

Business meetings to vote on the nominations from the earlier confirmation hearings are now being scheduled.
Once committee hearings are closed, most committees have a set amount of time before a vote is taken on whether the nominee is reported to the Senate favorably, unfavorably or without recommendation. They also have the option not to take action on the nominee. If action is taken, the committee notifies the executive clerk. The nomination is then given a number and added to the Executive Calendar of the Senate. (source: Ballotpedia)
This is another opportunity to call your senators or the committee members to object to the nominations and ask them to report "unfavourable" to the Senate.
