Jordan reports rallies in support of immigrnats on "Saturday"--I think she means today, not the 21st--a "day of action" stretching from New York and Miami to Phoenix and Los Angeles. "Activists will call on city mayors and local officials" to protect immigrants by adopting sanctuary policies (protecting immigrants from federal enforcement). "During his campaign, Mr. Trump voted to eliminate any programs created through executive action, and his 10-point immigration plan, posted online, states the same." The article says that Trump has "tempered his tone" and might consider other options for Dreamers (beneficiaries of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, who now have the option to apply for relief from deportation and two-year renewable work permits).
My take on the matter is that, since employing undocumented workers is popular with businesses (who can pay undocumented workers less and allot them even fewer rights than documented workers) the businesses are not going to give up easily.
