thisfinecrewOMG I can't believe I have the scoop, but...this is c&pd from Coalition for Human Needs, linking to a Washington Post article: Trump has announced he will sign an EO to end the practice of separating children from parents in immigration detention.
Admittedly it's kind of like being a Presbyterian and your minister agrees to stop getting his dick out and snorting coke...during the sermon. You wouldn't think it was even a topic, but it's still good to get the promise FWIW.
"We know you care deeply about the immigrant children who have been taken from their parents by the Trump Administration. Right now it's reported
that the Administration is responding to the firestorm of protest by announcing that the President will sign an executive order ending this abusive practice. Instead, parents and children will be detained together. Under current law, families with children are not supposed to be held more than 20 days. It is not known what the Administration's plans are. They are seeking legislation. They do not need legislation to end their policy of criminal prosecutions for all parents attempting to enter this country. However, incarcerating parents and children together for longer periods than is now legal is not a solution. We will be sharing more information as we get it, and hope you will join us in continuing to fight against the inhumane treatment of immigrant children and families.
In the meantime, please call your Representative to ask that he/she oppose the two anti-immigrant bills to be on the floor Thursday. Info on how to call, here.
