Weekly Check in Nov 12

As seems to be the case on three-day weekends for me, the check-in post is a day late. Apologies for that. It's been a rollercoaster of a week with the Democrats taking the House and a lot of down-ballot races and the firing of Attorney General Sessions imperiling the Mueller investigation. It's a good reminder that we still have two more years under this regime and we're still going to have to fight every step of the way.

Thank you to everyone who voted in the election. Thank you to everyone who contributed in big ways and small to campaigns across the country. Thank you to all our overseas friends who've supported us throughout with information and encouragement. Never give up, never surrender.

Reminder that we now have a Friending Meme and a (locked) post where you can connect with others who live in the same area. We hope you find both of these posts useful!

We also have a suggestion post if there’s a topic that you’d like to see discussed but would like to ask the mods to look into. This can be anything from general information, or a how-to-do-a-thing, or something you may want to discuss as a community. Folks are welcome to post directly to the comm as always, but if you’re not comfortable/don’t have spoons, we can help too.

As we don't always get the time to pull things out of the suggestions post into their own separate posts, it may be worth checking every week (or tracking the post) to see if there's any new information you're interested in.

Also if you need help with tags, PM [personal profile] redbird, who is our tag guru. Both [personal profile] tanaqui and I are very grateful for the help.

So, what have you all been up to in the last week or are planning to get involved in next week?

Thank you! I may have more spoons to work on it myself this upcoming weekend.

I also strongly suspect the state-level races featured in the various Give Smart slates generally did much better than the long-shot (but really awesome) congressional candidates featured in the Great Slate - I know many of the latter did extraordinarily well to close the significant R-leaning gaps they started with as much as they did in in the finl % outcomes, but it still broke my heart that so many of them lost; I really hope most of them stick around in politics and run again the way JD Scholten is planning to!
