Kamala Harris Presidential Campaign Donation Link

I thought this might be relevant to some of our interests in the wake of today's news: link to donate to VP Harris' presidential campaign.

ETA thanks to folks in comments: [personal profile] minoanmiss also recommends contacting the DNC to encourage them to make her the official nominee, and [personal profile] philomytha let us know that US citizens who are overseas can contribute through the linked site if they give their passport number. Thanks so much!

Further ETA from comments: quoting our wonderful mod [personal profile] tanaqui: "If you have time rather than money to donate, take a look at https://events.democrats.org/

If you click on the filter button near the top of the page, you can search for events that are local, GOTV, canvassing/phonebanking or ADA accessible."

And [personal profile] minoanmiss would like to credit [personal profile] petra for the idea of contacting the DNC. (This is probably my last update to this post, so that newer ideas can go in new posts and more people can see them.)

X for Z: grassroots fundraising

X for Z is a fundraising effort, or maybe meta-fundraising effort, very much in the spirit of [community profile] thisfinecrew: it's just one person who's aggregating the ActBlue links for federal, state, and local candidates to make it as easy as possible to make a bunch of small-dollar donations to a range of candidates. You can read more from its founder at DailyKos here.

Help striking miners in Alabama

I'm sorry for the copy-pasting, but I wanted to get this out.

Striking Alabama coal miners are calling out the hedge funds backing Warrior Met Coal, and whose support allows the company "to pay their executives millions of dollars a year, while the miners … are struggling to get by," says labor reporter [profile] grimkim.

From Democracy Now (link)

There are hundreds of union families in rural Alabama holding the line and trying to survive as the strike nears its 5th month.

If you can chip in, or pass the word, it'd be a big help.

You can donate to either the Strike Pantry or the Strike Aid Fund:

Strike Pantry: "We provide grocery bags, meals at rallys, baby items, and hygiene products weekly. We are also doing back to school bags for the children." Donation link

Strike Aid Fund: This fund "provides financial assistance to striking miners. Donations help keep us fighting the unfair labor practices at Warrior Met One Day Longer." Donation link

donating medical supplies

I just saw on social media that local hospital is asking people who have, or can buy, N95 masks, exam gloves, and other personal protective equipment to donate them to the ER. I can't do much to help right now, but I do have a bit of money and an Amazon account, so I ordered two boxes of nitrile gloves for delivery to the Mount Auburn ER.

It's a small thing, but it's something I can do to help right now, more active than self-isolating.
