Here we go again....

This is not the "day after" post I wanted to be writing. This is not the "day after" post you all wanted me to be writing.

It is a place for you to post whatever reactions you feel the need to post. Where we can commiserate with each other.

And if you do have good news for down-ballot races and propositions from your area, please let us know. (We could all do with some crumbs of comfort.)

In a few days time, I'll put up a post to discuss what we want out of the comm for the next four years. But for today, let's give ourselves this space to breathe, feel, grieve....

My senator, Elizabeth Warren, is going back to Washington to fight the Republican senate with everything she has. I know it won't be enough but I'm still glad she'll be there.

Wisconsin appears to be keeping Tammy Baldwin as senator. Thank God.

CA Amendment 3, which repeals CA's superseded-but-still-on-the-books same-sex marriage ban, has passed by a supermajority of votes. I remember the Prop 8 days and am so glad that that hateful language is out of our state constitution for good.

New York State is amending the state constitution to protect against discrimination on the basis of "ethnicity, national origin, age, disability and sex — including sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes, reproductive health care and autonomy."

I feel kind of numb and tired rn.

Thanks for inviting the good news as well.

My SiL in St. Louis posted that Missouri's Amendment 3 passed -- enshrining reproductive freedom in the state constitution and overturning the state's near-total ban.

Also, Sarah McBride won her election, becoming the first out transgender person elected to Congress.

I know damn well neither of my parents voted for McBride, but as they have a trans child (me) and are about to be her constituents, I am so so so tempted to call them up to congratulate them on electing said maker of history

not gonna actually, they don't get to have my phone number; might send a postcard though

My little purple city voted in tax overrides that will hopefully make our school system into a place where children like mine can actually thrive.

A moment to briefly complain: Every time I see someone else griping about Harris and Walz not posting or sharing policy, I don't understand why they simply don't look at their years of dedicated public service to get some idea of their intentions and goals - especially so since the other candidate did exactly the same, and nobody pressed him to share with anywhere near the same criticism.

Thanks for this.

My good new in Maryland is we elected Angela Alsobrooks to the Senate, and abortion protections are in our state constitution now.
