I would agree with this. What a lot of people hate about phones isn't (just) the logistics of a phone call, it's not knowing what will happen, what the other person will do, or if you'll get what you want. With phone banking, you have a script, you have clear goals that would fit in a pretty simple flow chart, and you have nothing personally riding on the phone call. Even if the person on the other end is unpleasant, you'll have a box you can check for that, thank them, hang up, and then you're done with that person forever.
