Check In 6 March

I'm sure we've all been shocked by the appalling news coming out from Ukraine over the past couple of weeks after the invasion by Russia. We have a post collecting practical ways you can help that's included in the links below.

I also want to remind everyone to take care of your own mental health as far as possible. If you find yourself doomscrolling live blogs or twitter (as I did myself initially), try to step away from the screen and do something else, and just check the news at set times.

Here are the posts since the last check in:

Prevent Content Id From Infecting The Whole Internet
Donate: Support For Ukraine
Oppose Texas Treating Gender-Affirming Care As Child Abuse

And the usual reminder to not be shy of making your own posts about any issues and actions you think the comm should know about, or dropping some information into a comment to our sticky post if you'd like the mods to do it.

Please also let us know of anything you think should be added to our roundup of election resources (or anything that needs to be removed).

You can always use our
tags to check for any ongoing actions or resources relevant to the issues you care about. (And a quick shout out to [personal profile] redbird for all the tagging work that keeps the comm running smoothly.)

Finally, here's our poll (behind the cut) for you to tell us what you've been doing in the last few weeks. And do let us know in comments what you plan to do next.

Bolts Magazine is a fantastic resource for anyone interested in progressive elections at all levels. It's a new project put together by Daniel Nichanian (Taniel on twitter) who has been tracking everything from primaries to District Attorney and Sheriff elections.

If nothing else, it's worth checking out this database on who runs the elections in each state, so we can pay special attention to those offices.

That sounds like an excellent magazine, and hopefully the website plays nicely with my screen reader. For whatever reason most of these political websites seem to have one or more major accessibility issues. I've found a small handful that don't though, and hopefully this is one of them.

Please let me know if you have trouble with this one, so I can poke them about it (and add the warning to my recommendation for the site).

So far so good on my end, although I have yet to receive a confirmation of my newsletter sign-up. But perhaps that will come soon. Thanks for sharing though.
