House Republicans want to cut school lunches
Citation of suggestion now before Ways and Means.
I am calling to urge [Representative] to oppose changes to the Community Eligibility Provision and continue to fund school lunches in low-income districts. As someone who knows that children are our future, I am against any measures that would reduce the number of children who are fed balanced meals when they need them. Research has shown that children learn better when they're not hungry, and that providing meals in a way that identifies the poorest children stigmatizes them and makes them less willing to eat those meals. Also, requiring families to sign up for governmental assistance reduces the chances of children receiving the meals they desperately need to learn and grow.
Thank you for your time.
