Coping: Throwing a weekly anger party

A friend linked to this tumblr post, How to Throw a Weekly Anger Party Where You Call Your Representatives.

It sounds like a wonderful idea to me, as part of both "how to keep doing this for the long term" and "how not to feel isolated while we do it."

If you don't have in-person activists to party with, I think it would work equally well over chat or Skype, with Google Doc scripts. Especially for people like me -- since I work days, I can't attend a party during the office hours when staff are likely to answer the phone unless it's online, but I could do a lunchtime chat room.

I would recommend combining this with brewing a pot of coffee, adding flavored syrup and whipped cream, and charging $3 (to be paid to an agreed-upon cause). Why sit around Starbuck's drinking expensive coffee when you can be among friends?

For people with HBO, I suggest hosting a "Keep This Fictional" viewing party for The Handmaid's Tale (starts in April).
