Check In 4 June

The bill to raise the debt ceiling has passed, so no government shutdown (and, from what I can tell, not too many horrible concessions to the Republicans). On top of that, a (Trump-appointed!) judge has struck down the anti-drag law in Tennessee. It's nice to have a bit of good news to celebrate.

Here are the posts in the comm since the last check in — thank you to everyone who's posted.

X For Z: Grassroots Fundraising
Protect Native American Children
Ohio Special Election And 2024 Senate Race
Require Hospitals To Monitor + Prevent Covid Infections

As always, everyone is free to make posts about any issues and actions they think the comm should know about. You can also drop some information into a comment to our sticky post if you'd like the mods to do it.

If you're looking for information on anything else, you can use our tags to check for any ongoing actions or resources relevant to the issues you care about. (And a quick shout out to [personal profile] redbird for all the tagging work that keeps the comm running smoothly.)

Finally, here's our poll (behind the cut) for you to tell us what you've been doing in the last few weeks. And do let us know in comments what you plan to do next.

Lol I guess I'm early for this one. Anyway, great news! I guess one step forward, 2 steps back really is the name of the game in some aspects for Republicans. Lol I've been thinking about something recently, i.e., wouldn't it be fascinating to have an in-depth conversation with somebody from across the aisle? I'd write more, but have to get my day rolling as I'm going grocery shopping and a neighbor is probably going to call or come knocking in a bit. But I'll definitely check out the 2 NPR links. Everyone make it a great day.

It's a small action, but I took 4 friends, who are all disabled and mostly housebound, to get their first covid shot since the time I took them a couple years ago. The organization sponsoring the event gave them $300 in gift cards, enough for a week's groceries.

I was busy with the preparations for the celebration of my 50th wedding anniversary. I had to finish baking and decorating the cake. And then my husband and I went to dinner in NYC.
