It's not clear from the article I read how long those applications apply: it might be necessary to send in the separate application for voting by mail in the general election in November.

I haven't read any articles, but if they're just sending out the normal absentee ballot application, there's a checkbox for "send me just for this election" vs "send me for all elections this year"
