This Fine Crew -- the UK edition

Following on from [personal profile] cesy's comment asking about doing equivalent stuff for the UK, I've decided to launch a UK version of [community profile] thisfinecrew.

(In case you missed the news, the UK re-elected its own narcissist-in-chief and his party this week with a large majority, so the government can now push ahead with Brexit and get back to implementing the rest of its nasty domestic agenda.)

Just like here, the comm will be about practical activism and gathering links and resources for relatively low-key, simple things you can do to oppose detrimental government proposals and improve the lives of people already suffering. That means actions related to things like: the "hostile environment"; racism, anti-semitism, islamophobia and other forms of bigotry; poverty; the broken social care and healthcare systems; justice, crime and policing; and the future of the constituent countries of the UK. (And all the rest….)

While the focus is on the UK, the comm is open to anyone who wants to join, from any country. As many of the UK government's actions over the next few years will affect citizens of other European and Commonwealth countries, they're especially welcome.

Right now, I am in the very early planning stages and would love to find at least a couple of co-mods. Being a co-mod involves helping with some combination of:
  • bouncing ideas around and formulating responses when issues come up
  • crafting content for mod posts
  • monitoring the comm and responding to posts and questions
  • making check-in posts
  • tagging posts
  • helping promote the comm

Please comment on this post or PM me if you're interested in becoming a co-mod. Co-mods don't need to come from or live in the UK!

I'm also looking for a (fannish) name and tag line for the comm, so suggestions in comments are very welcome. (I could just make it "This Fine Crew UK", but where's the fun in that?)

Your nervous but determined future mod, Tanaqui
